Meeting Minutes – April 20, 2018

HAPLD FRIENDS FOUNDATION
General Meeting              April 20, 2018

The HAPLD Friends Foundation members met in the Program Room at the Library.

Those in attendance were: Diane Becker, Sandy Cooper, Deanna Engelke, Judy Engeriser, Marilyn Graunke, Nancy Hardy, Candace Maloney, Shirley Nowak, Janis Ruffino, Judy Schrader, Marge Smith, Reta Stohs, Pat Totman.  Frank Novak, Library Director; Pamela Kampwerth, Library Liaison

Growing Scene Presentation
Kathleen Carr from The Growing Scene presented the program “Right Plant, Right Place”.

 At 11:51, Vice President, Janis Ruffino, called the meeting to order.

Director’s Report
Director Frank Novak reported that the Board of Trustees approved contracts to move forward to a referendum: Wold Architects; Gilbane Construction Company; George K Baum & Co.
The “new” van has been purchased. Fundraising paid a little over half of the cost of the van. Soon an identification wrap will be applied. The gas cap will be labeled, “Fueled by the Friends”.

Secretary’s Report
Deanna moved the minutes be accepted, Sandy seconded, the motion passed.

Treasurer’s Report
Sandy gave an overview of the transactions for the past month. The balance is $16,081.46. Marilyn moved the report be accepted, Judy S. seconded, the motion passed.

April Book Sale
Reta reported that the April sale earned $876.00. The number of volunteers and the location of the sale behind the Information desk has made set up quicker and easier.

Culvers Night
The raffle and tips did very well. The winner of the raffle returned $75.00 to the Friends. Total income will be about $684.00.

The Human Race
Eleven people have signed up to walk/run on Sunday, April 22. Pamela showed the stringed backpack that will be the entrants “capes”.

Breakfast Update
The ticket sales are going well, 104 as of today. There is a limit of 120 tickets.

Summer Reading
The first day of registration for Summer Reading will be June 6. Friend volunteers will be handing out folders. Kona Ice will be at the Library both June 6 and 7 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Mini Links date change
The annual Mini Links fundraiser has been moved to July 27th. The August Book Sale will remain on August 4th and 5th.

Nancy moved the meeting adjourn at 12:17, Shirley seconded, the motion passed.

April Volunteer Incentive Plan

Following the meeting nine tickets were drawn for meal cards and lottery tickets. The tickets were part of the April Volunteer Incentive Plan. Volunteers were given a ticket for each hour they volunteered during the month: Book Sale, Culvers, volunteering at the Library and attending the meeting.
