Meeting Minutes – January 18, 2019

HAPLD FRIENDS FOUNDATION
General Meeting         January 18, 2019

The HAPLD Friends Foundation members met in the Library.

Those in attendance were: Diane Benson, Darcy Chadwick, Sandy Cooper, Connie Corwin, Carol David, Deanna Engelke, Nancy Hardy, Genevieve Hochwarter, Stevie Massei, Shirley Nowak, Janis Ruffino, Judy Schrader, Marge Smith, Reta Stohs, Pat Totman, Kathleen Wulf; Pamela Kampwerth, Head of Circulation and Outreach Services; Leigh Ann Porsch, Head of Marketing and Public Relations; Frank Novak, Library Director; Thom Palmer, Huntley Park District Executive Director.

At 11:06 a.m. President Genevieve Hochwarter called the meeting to order.

Program
Pamela Kampwerth introduced the guest speaker, Thom Palmer, Executive Director Huntley Park District, who talked about the history of the Park District.

Director’s Report
The Library Board of Trustees approved putting the referendum question on the April 2 ballot. The Friends are asked to help promote voting for the referendum. Monday, January 21, there will be a meeting, Evening with the Estimator, at the library 6:00 p.m.

Secretary’s report
Connie Corwin moved the December minutes be accepted, Sandy Cooper seconded, the motion passed.

Treasurer’s report
The December treasurer’s report showed a balance of $8,843.05. A check for $26,500 was given to the Library at the December meeting. Reta Stohs moved the treasurer’s report be accepted, Kathleen Wulf seconded, the motion passed. 

Annual Plea/Giving Tuesday update
Over $5000.00 has been received and donations are still coming in.

February General Meeting
The next General meeting is February 15th. In celebration of Love Your Library month members will wear red and enjoy chocolate.

Library Lovers Fundraising in February
During the month of February Lego bricks, windows and doors will be available for donations. $1 per brick, $10 per person, $25 per window, $50 per door, $100 per tree. The Legos will be used to “build a new library” on display behind the Information Desk.
Book Sale, February 2 and 3. Volunteers are needed to work the sale and set up Friday p.m.

Building Program, Volunteer help needed
Host a Coffee or Tea at your house. Contact Leigh Ann Porsch.

Citizens Committee for Huntley Library Expansion
First meeting, Tuesday, January 29, 10:30 a.m. at the American Community Bank. Be part of the Committee promoting the “Vote Yes” campaign. A slogan/tagline will be decided upon.

Huntley Business Expo, March 2: Friends table promoting the building project and April 2 vote.

 Culver’s Fundraiser, Monday, March 11
Volunteer sign-up sheets were available.

Shirley Nowak moved the meeting adjourn, Carol David seconded, the meeting adjourned at 12:00 p.m.
