HAPLD FRIENDS FOUNDATION
General Meeting              September 14, 2018

The HAPLD Friends Foundation members met in the Library’s Program Room.

Those in attendance were: Sandy Cooper, Pat Darow, Carol David, Elizabeth Freund, Marilyn Graunke, Nancy Hardy, Genevieve Hochwarter, Karen Hutchings, Bert Knierim, Ron Mangold, Stevie Massei, Jackie Pollack, Janis Ruffino, Judy Schrader, Marge Smith, Martha Schooley, Reta Stohs, Pat Totoman, Patricia Wyant, Kathleen Wulf; Frank Novak, Library Director; Pamela Kampwerth, Head of Circulation and Outreach Services; Lonni Oldham, Nancy Bacheller, Speakers.

At 11:03 a.m. President Genevieve Hochwarter called the meeting to order.

Director’s Report
Director Frank Novak reported on the progress of the building program. At present he is gathering input from various groups: The Core Planning Group, a Community Task Force, Staff and Focus Groups. Input will be pared down to reasonable ideas for implementation. He is working with construction management and architects to come up with a 15,000 square feet addition that will be fiscally responsible, that will keep the impact on tax payers down to a reasonable level.

Program: Illinois Statehood Bicentennial 1818-2018, the Huntley Link
Pamela introduced Lonni Oldman, Huntley Research Committee and Nancy Bacheller, Huntley Library Local History.

Secretary’s report
Reta Stohs moved the August minutes be accepted, Jackie Pollack seconded, the motion passed.
Treasurer’s report
The August treasurer’s report showed a balance of $17,598.16. Janis Ruffino moved the treasurer’s report be accepted, Nancy Hardy seconded, the motion passed.

Chip-In App
A new app is available for patrons with which they can pay for tickets, membership, book sales, or make donations using their cellular phone.

Fall Fest Book Sale
The biggest book sale fundraiser of the year is during Fall Fest at the Cosman Center, September 21-23. Reta Stohs, emphasized that many more volunteers are needed. Sign-up sheets were available.

Holiday Basket Committee Meeting
The next Holiday Basket meeting is October 5, 11:00 a.m. after the Friends Board Meeting at Genevieve Hochwarter’s home. All interested members are invited to attend the meeting.

October General Meeting
The annual Friends luncheon is during National Friends of Libraries Week, Friday October 19th, at Boulder Ridge Country Club. Tickets are on sale.

Culver’s Fundraising Night
The next Culver’s fundraiser is Monday, October 22, 4:00-8:00 p.m. A volunteer sign-up sheet is available.

November General Meeting
Thom Palmer from the Huntley Park District will be the speaker at the November 16th meeting.

Judy Schrader moved the meeting adjourn, Sandy Cooper seconded, the meeting adjourned at 12:07 p.m.
