Director’s Report
Director, Frank Novak, indicated that July was a quiet month. He enjoyed working the Mini-Links, and appreciates all of the work that went into creating this event.
July Meeting Minutes
The July Secretary’s report was read and the spelling of Pat Darow’s name was corrected. Reta Stohs moved that the minutes be accepted as corrected, Stevie Massei seconded the motion. The minutes were accepted.
Treasurer’s Report
Sandy Cooper gave the treasurer’s report which shows a July 31st balance of $15,769.68. The main source of income was from Corner Book sales. The August Book Sale and Mini-Links will show up on next month’s statement. Diane Benson moved to accept the Treasurer’s report, Marilyn Graunke seconded and the motion carried.
August Book Sale
Reta reported that the sale went “spectacularly”. At the end only one Friend’s bag was left, the most ever used. The sale was open during the Mini-Links and raised $72; Saturday and Sunday sales raised $733.00; $74.50 was donated; and $106 was earned from recycling remaining books.
Fall Fest Book Sale
Many volunteers are needed to set up the sale on September 26, work the sale Saturday and Sunday, September 27 & 28, and take down at 5:00 on Sunday. Twenty-four tables have been ordered. A small table will be set up with a small tree for the sale of 25th anniversary Huntley Library ornaments. A Holiday Basket raffle ticket will be handed out to those making purchases.
Mini-Links recap
Unfortunately, attendance wasn’t much larger than last year. Having the Book Sale with the golf was successful. Next year, we need more sponsors and we will consider holding the event while the library is open.
October Speaker
On Thursday, October 2, 6:30 p.m. we are hosting a speaker at the Cosman Center. He is an architect working on a Roman excavation site in Egypt. Tickets will go on sale September 1. There will be some raffle items.
November Tea
On Thursday, November 6, 1:00 p.m. we are hosting an “English Tea” at Boulder Ridge Country Club. Tickets will be $50. There will be silent auction items. The speaker will talk about English Estates.
Holiday Baskets
A committee has already had an initial meeting. The next meeting is September 4th at 11:30 a.m. Anyone interested in being part of the committee is invited to attend. This year the number of baskets will be fewer because of space limitations. Come with fantastic ideas!
Library Lovers Month
February is designated Library Lovers Month. We need some fresh ideas of how to celebrate it this coming February. Anyone interested in being on the committee let Pamela or Genevieve know.
Marilyn moved that the meeting adjourn, Patricia seconded. The meeting adjourned at 11:36.
Respectfully Submitted, Marjorie Smith
