Starting in December/January the Library Links Newsletter will become an 8 page, more inclusive bimonthly magazine style periodical with the usual scheduled events, featured articles and more integration of Friends activities. Janis Ruffino mentioned another library’s practice of putting their Friends’ logo next to Friends sponsored programs.
In conjunction with the 25th anniversary, the Huntley Library is looking into changing its logo.
The gazebo has been replaced with a non-wood version.

The August Secretary’s report was read. Pat Cornwell moved to accept the minutes, Shirley Nowak seconded and motion carried.

Ornament Sale
We have three hundred silver ornaments of the Library. There is a display tree on the counter behind the Information desk. The ornaments may be purchased at the Circulation Desk for $15.00 and will be on sale at Fall Fest and Book Sales. Nancy Hardy suggested they be put in each Holiday Basket.
Fall Fest Book Sale
There is a desperate need for volunteers to set up the sale on September 26, work the sale Saturday and Sunday, September 27 & 28, and take down on Monday morning. Our volunteer caller is unable to finish calling to recruit volunteers. Volunteers are needed to complete the calls. A small table will be set up with a small tree for the sale of 25th anniversary Huntley Library ornaments. A Holiday Basket raffle ticket will be handed out to those making purchases.
October Speaker
On Thursday, October 2, 6:30 p.m. we are hosting a speaker at the Cosman Center. He is an architect working on a Roman excavation site in Egypt. Tickets are $10.00, $5.00 for students. Only 26 tickets have sold so far. There will be a 50/50 raffle. MCC and Huntley High School have been contacted.
Culver’s Fundraiser
The next Culvers’ night is Monday, October 13, 4:00-8:00 p.m. Volunteers are needed to be runners, greeters and to sell 50/50 raffle tickets.
November Tea
On Thursday, November 6, 1:00 p.m. we are hosting an “English Tea” at Boulder Ridge Country Club. The ticket cost has been changed to $40.00. There will be Downton Abbey silent auction items. The speaker will talk about English Estates.
Holiday Baskets
The next committee will be October 2, 11:30 a.m. at Genevieve’s home. Genevieve, Shirley and Pat and Genevieve and Jan Schadt visited stores asking for donations. So far we have a $200 gift certificate from Meijers, 2 tastings at Noodles & Company, a Fannie May Basket, and 4 Bulls tickets.
Library Lovers Month
February is designated Library Lovers Month. Anyone interested in being on the committee let Pamela or Genevieve know. So far, a Chocolate Day at Fannie May is scheduled for Monday, February 2. Fannie May coffee and a treat will be served. The committee will determine how the event will proceed. A percentage of purchases will be donated to the Friends. More ideas are needed for the rest of the month.
Pat Cornwell moved that the meeting adjourn, Janis Ruffino seconded. The meeting adjourned at 11:36.
Respectfully Submitted, Marjorie Smith
