HAPLD FRIENDS FOUNDATION
General Meeting August 16, 2019
The HAPLD Friends Foundation members met at Tom’s Farm, Huntley Illinois.

Vice President, Janis Ruffino called the meeting to order at 11:02.
Director’s Report
While no dirt has been moved, a lot has been going on in the library in preparation for the move out of the trailers. Some changes in the plans have moved the drive-up to the front of the building, the reading terrace removed, the program rooms will be in that area and the Children’s room will be on the front of the building. Two closings have been scheduled: October 16-22 and December 9-15. Demolition of the trailers will be around March 1. The goal is to have the addition finished by February 2021. Then everything will be moved into to the new building while the old section is renovated. Grand Opening is projected for January 2022.
Speaker
Claudia Kendzior spoke about the 100-year history of Morkes Chocolates and the making of chocolate. She provided samples of chocolate and apple cider donuts.
Secretary’s Report
Pat Cornwell moved that the July secretary’s report be accepted. Nancy Hardy seconded. The motion passed.
Treasurer’s Report
The July treasurer’s report showed a balance of $21,677.56. Marilyn Graunke moved the July treasurer’s report be accepted, Judy Schrader seconded, the motion passed.
August Book Sale
The sale was our largest library two-day sale on record! Friends raised $1,423.21!
Fall Fest. September 20-22
Everyone was encouraged to volunteer for at least one time slot.
September General Meeting, September 13 (Date Change)
Lonni Oldman, Huntley Research Committee and Nancy Bacheller, Huntley Library Local History will present a program of local history: Mayhem, Mischief and Mystery.
Holiday Basket Committee, September 6
The first meeting of the Committee will be after the September 6 Board Meeting. Due to limited space this year there will only be 10 baskets. Anyone interested can come to the meeting at Genevieve’s.

- Culver’s of Huntley: Monday, October 14, 4-8 p.m. Coloring page to be turned in for chance to win school supplies
- Annual Luncheon: Boulder Ridge, Friday, October 18, 11:30 a.m.

Shirley Nowak moved the meeting adjourn; Pat Cornwall seconded. The meeting adjourned at 11:57.
