Director’s Report /Trustees’ Meeting Report
In the absence of the Director, Pamela and Shirley reported on the September Board of Trustees’ meeting. The auditor gave his report. An architect discussed options for replacing the front doors to reduce the amount of wind entering the Library. The Board is still reviewing options as well as options for a sign in front of the building. They are also exploring the possibility of a referendum. The back staircase absolutely needs replacing.
Secretary’s Report
Marge read thank you notes from:
- D158 Preschool for their gift basket
- Huntley Historical Society for the basket for their fundraiser
- Deborah Luetscher, head of Youth Services, for funding the Summer Reading Program
The August minutes were reviewed. Leslie moved the minutes be accepted, Nancy seconded, the motion carried.
Treasurer’s Report
Diane Benson gave the treasurer’s report which showed a balance as of September 17 of $19,461.11. Income was from Corner Book sales, Culver’s tips and 50/50 raffle, Kona Ice. Expenses included new bags for Fall Fest, table rental for Fall Fest, Regional Friends meeting, and Postage. Muriel moved the report be accepted, Reta seconded, the motion carried.
Book Sales
Pam reported that 500 bags have been used so far this year. New bags were ordered for the Fall Fest in a dark green with the new logo. Many more volunteers are needed to work the Huntley Fall Fest. A truck has been rented for Friday morning to bring over the books. There are more books to sell than have been available in past years.
Northern Illinois Regional Friends Meeting
Marge reported the meeting’s emphasis was what individual Friends groups were doing in addition to Book Sales. Non-book sale activities included mum, bake, cookie, and candy sales; little free libraries; auctions and raffles. LibraryConsignment.com was a suggested site for the sale of some books. Huntley has since tried the site. The group decided to only meet twice a year. The April meeting will be at Algonquin. It was decided to discontinue the NIRF blog. Pamela has created a Facebook page instead.
Culver’s Fundraising Night
On August 31, the Friends were the last group to host a fundraiser at the old Culver’s location. The profits were about $500. April and October 2016 dates have been scheduled for the new building.

The first meeting discussed businesses to approach for donations and basket themes. A letter will go out to the membership asking for a contribution of $5.00 to defray the cost of ribbon, filler and additional basket items.
