Meeting Minutes – April 21, 2017

HAPLD FRIENDS FOUNDATION
General Meeting        April 21, 2017

The HAPLD Friends Foundation members met in the Library Program Room, Friday, April 21, 2017. Those in attendance were:

Diane Becker, Sandy Cooper, Pat Cornwell, Connie Corwin, Deanna Engelke, Marilyn Graunke, Nancy Hardy, Genevieve Hochwarter, Stevie Massei, Jackie Pollack, Janis Ruffino, Judy Schrader, Marge Smith, Reta Stohs, Leslie Threadgill-Smith, Pat Totman, Karen Zarembski.

At 11:00 a.m. Genevieve introduced the guest speaker, Kathleen Carr, from the Growing Scene. Her presentation was “Flowers that Attract Butterflies, Hummingbirds, and Pollinators”.

At 11:55 a.m. Genevieve called the business meeting to order.

Secretary’s Report
The March minutes were corrected to read the meeting adjourned at 11:35 a.m. (not p.m.). Leslie moved that the minutes be accepted as corrected, Pat seconded, the motion carried.

Treasurer’s Report
Sandy Cooper gave the treasurer’s report which showed a balance of $19,313.97. Income included: Corner Books, $2379.35; sponsorship and tickets for the Spring Breakfast, $1890.00; an initial income of $331.00 from Culvers.  Expenses included insurance for the Friends’ Directors, $894.00. Connie moved the treasurer’s report be accepted, Nancy seconded and the motion carried.

June Book Sale
The April Book sale set a record with an income of over $930 in sales and donations of $34.50.  June’s sale will also be set up behind the Information desk on Friday night, June 2, after the Library closes. Volunteers need to arrive before the doors are locked at 5:00 p.m.

Culvers Night
The April fundraiser at Culvers set a new record of $945.51, $300.00 more than the previous record.

National Library Worker’s Day
On April 11, The Friends provided lunch for the staff in appreciation for its continued support of the Friends. Marge read a thank you note from the staff.

Breakfast Fundraiser, May 17
Flyers are available for distribution. Tickets are on sale (to date 80 have been sold).

Growing Green Days, May 19-21
Friends will earn 10% of the sales at The Growing Scene on these three days. A Friends certificate is required. Certificates were available and will also be available at the next General Meeting, the first day of the sale.

Summer Reading Program
June 7 is sign-up day for the Summer Reading Program, “Super Powered Summer”. Volunteers are needed to distribute the folders that the Friends are providing. Kona Ice will give the Friends 20% of the day’s sales.

Award Winning Minilinks Committee
At the end of the Summer Reading Program, the Friends will host Minilinks and Book Sale. Anyone interested in serving on the committee are invited to attend a meeting, June 9, 11:00 a.m. at Genevieve’s home.

Pat moved that the meeting adjourn, Connie seconded, the motion carried. The meeting adjourned at 12:16 p.m.
