Meeting Minutes – December 18, 2020

HAPLD FRIENDS FOUNDATION 

General Meeting December 18, 2020
 The HAPLD Friends Foundation members met via ZOOM. 

Those in attendance: Pat Cornwell, Connie Corwin, Jerome Darrow, Pat Darrow, Carol David, Nancy Hardy, Genevieve Hochwarter,Joan Longmire, Ron Mangold, Marsha NatkinsShirley Nowak, Jackie Pollack, Arthur Ruffino, Janis Ruffino, Jan Schadt, Judy SchraderMarge SmithPat Totman. Library personnel: Sandy Homuth, Rosie LukasCandace Maloney, Lian Pankow, Karyn Petersen, Pamela Kampwerth, Head of Circulation and Outreach Services 

 Pamela welcomed everyone to the meeting at 11:05 a.m. 

 Secretary’s Report 

The minutes from the November meeting were reviewed. Carol David moved to accept the minutes, Jackie Pollack seconded, the motion carried. 

 Financial Report 

The current balance is $16,865.22 plus the $120,000 CD. Income for the year was $143,716.91 and expenses were $ 16,845.22, leaving a balance of $126,871.69.

 Library Update 

Inside photos of the new addition were shown. 

The Library is open regular hours. Materials, when they are returned to the Library, are in quarantine for 3 days. Late fees are no longer being charged. The building program will be entering Phase 2 in mid-March. The Library will be closed for a few weeks to move everything from the original building into the addition. The temporary entrance will be on the east. An employee will be stationed by the entrance to help entering/leaving the building. The Book Drops will no longer be available. Hold pickup and return will be available from the parking lot. The entrance to the new parking lot will be from Main Street.  

Phase III should begin in mid-April and end in November 2021. The completed building will reopen late December, early January 2022. 

 Holiday Basket Raffle 

This year 1500 tickets were ordered using the form in the Library and Friends newslettersNearly, $2000 was donated before tickets went on sale. 

Winning tickets were pulled for the five Baskets: 

  1. $200 in cash 
  1. Grocery gift cards: $100 Meijer, $50 Jewel, $50 Trader Joes
  1. Lottery Tree: $200 in lottery tickets plus light up Christmas tree 
  1. Nintendo Switch system 
  1. Stay at home basket: $50 pizza gift card, games, puzzle, candy, popcorn
